You will find the notes to use for playing the chord C-major on the white keys on your piano. If you use the first, third and fifth note in the C-major scale you will play the notes C, E and G and this is a C-major chord.
If you begin with the C note to the left of the middle C you will have room for your right hand to play melodies around middle C. To play the chord F you can play the notes F, A and C which are the first, third and fifth note of the F-major scale. To make this chord a little bit easier to play we will turn the notes around a bit and play the notes in this order: C, F and A. It will still be an F chord but much easier to play after the C-chord.
When you play the C chord you can place your left hand fingers with your pinkie on C, middle finger on E and your thumb on G. When you play The F chord, C, F and A, you can use your pinkie, index and thumb. Your right hand fingers can be placed with your thumb on middle C and the rest of your fingers on the notes D, E, F and G.
As you improvise melodies with your right hand you can alternate between the chords C and F with your left hand. This is a good exercise for both changing chords and for creating melodies and improvising!
